Index to Massachusetts Births, 1911-1915 Online
A new database has been added to the New England Historic Genealogical Society’s online collection.
It’s the Index to Massachusetts Births, 1911-1915.
At some point during the digitization project, the birth, marriage and death records for this time period will become available. Digital images are being included as well.
Until the images are online (some are), you can view these images on microfilm at the NEHGS Boston research library or order copies here: Click here to order photocopies from NEHGS Research Services.

Digging Up The Ancestors
One of the best tips around for digging up those pesky ancestors is to talk to your living relatives.
Think about it for a moment.
Can you remember your grandparents or information concerning them?
Most of us can.
So, your parents should remember facts about their grandparents. Guess what? You just uncovered your great grandparents.
Now, you are really blessed if you still have your grandparents. Ask them questions. You will discover your great-great grandparents.
Wow! Do you see how this works? It’s brilliant.
What are you waiting for? Don’t lose those ancestors. Digging them up once the living relatives are gone is more difficult. Get their lives written down from those that still vividly remember and treasure them.

The Economy And Virtual Assistants
I think it’s safe to say that the American economy has some issues.
So, how can a small business owner gain expertise and get some much needed relief?
That’s easy. Look into working with a Virtual Assistant.
There are many out there that claim to be virtual assistants nowadays. However, one fact should be prevalent. A virtual assistant is administrative. Anything else is something else.
If you are looking for administrative support, check out a virtual assistant. If you need a bookkeeper, accountant, computer programmer, or graphic designer; then you will need to search within those fields.
Yes, some virtual assistants specialize within certain fields but one person cannot provide you with everything and remain an expert.
Get the support you need. Don’t compromise your standards.
A great resource for highly skilled virtual assistants can be found within the Virtual Assistance Chamber of Commerce Directory. This virtual assistant community has established themselves as skilled, experienced, and ethical business owners with outstanding administrative backgrounds. You will not and cannot go wrong when working with a virtual assistant from the VACOC.
If you are unsure about your administrative needs or how to work with a virtual assistant, please check out the Client Guide established by the VACOC. It is a valuable resource for all business owners searching for virtual assistance.

Can It Be ADHD?
I know many people have heard me speak about my 3 year old son, Timmy, from time to time. He exhausts me.
Lately, it seems to be getting worse. My mind has been preoccupied with trying to figure out what is going on with him. He’s number 3 so I can compare.
I think that I’ve finally figured this out. I’m 99.9% positive that he has ADHD. I finally read up on it. I know people with ADD and I wasn’t really considering this problem for Timmy. The child would blow anyone away with his smarts. In fact, he did recently at our school. I took him over there a week ago for a speech pathology appointment. The speech pathologist basically brushed me out the door saying Timmy was ahead for his age and a riot. Hmmm, yeah, he’s a riot. This is where the stereotype played into me not considering ADHD. To me, ADHD patients would have to be a little slow or delayed with their learning skills. This is not present with Timmy and why I just discarded ADHD. However, I did some reading and now I know.
Reading on the internet sometimes is useful. I just discovered that ADHD with hyperactivity at the forefront presents itself with excessive and rushed speech among other things. Gee, you would think all these learned people would know this and pick up on it. Why must moms fight all the time? Anyways, I have an appointment scheduled with a specialist. They couldn’t get him in until December 23rd. Yep, I’m gonna bring my just turned 4 year old (turns 4 on December 8th) into the specialist for an ADHD diagnostic hour-long test on December 23rd. Does anyone think that this child (or any child) will not be bouncing off the walls? Sorry, I’m chuckling at this.
After reading all night, I called and got him placed on the waiting list for an earlier appointment. The CDC.gov has quite a bit of information along with CHADD.org. I hate the stereotype with this stuff; but if I can find out how to control his behavior with some sort of therapy, I want to start now.
I just thought I’d share this with my friends here. My kids are my life and joy. This last one is just trying to kill me. I’m sort of happy that I know the answer. I just have to get the diagnosis and the assistance to deal with it. It sounds silly but I am very happy to know what it is and what’s going on with him.
Here’s a list of how hyper he is:
- Often fidgets with hands or feet or squirms in seat (what seat?).
- Often gets up from seat when remaining in seat is expected (can’t sit through a meal or church service).
- Often runs about or climbs when and where it is not appropriate (constantly).
- Often has trouble playing or enjoying leisure activities quietly (sleep is when he is quiet).
- Is often “on the go” or often acts as if “driven by a motor” (nuclear energy is more like it).
- Often talks excessively (never stops and talks so fast that he’s unable to be understood most times).
Wish me luck with the boy and thanks for listening. Maybe someone else has gone down this road here or may need to see this too. Is there any advice from experts or other mom’s that have been down or are on this road right now?
