Save Your Business Image - Proofread
Nothing hurts your business image more than misspellings, typos and grammatical mistakes.
Business image is everything when you are a business owner. Why jeopardize your image with grammatical errors on your website and written materials? These so-called little mistakes can cost a business owner clients, business and money.
Let’s look at this from your potential clients’ perspective. Picture yourself handing a prospective client a flyer, brochure or business card riddled with proofreading errors. What will they think of you and your business? If you were handed business materials that were less than perfect, would you take a second look?
Now, send that potential client to your web site and let them start browsing. What do they see? Well, some clients might not catch those mistakes but some will. What will they think? They will think that you are unprofessional or a fly-by-night operation. They will even question the quality of your services and/or products. If there are mistakes on your web site and published materials, prospective clients may look to your competition instead of going with your services.
It’s amazing how much can be missed. When someone else looks at your copy, they can spot the smallest errors glaring out at them. For example, a second pair of eyes can find a double ‘it it’ when it should read ‘it is’. You would still be seeing ‘it is’ because that is what you intended to say and so, that is what you will read even when it isn’t there.
There are many proofreading errors that can mar your image. Think of all the material that is associated with your business image. There is your newsletter/ezine, blog, brochure, flyer, business card, and web site. There are many things to check along with grammar. Your contact information should be accurate including phone, fax, web address and email. Formatting errors need to be proofed. These are mistakes you find that involve fonts, spaces, extra tabs, page numbering, headers and footers, inactive links and the like. These errors are annoying because they can creep up on you.
We are all human and no one is perfect. Typos happen to the best of us. Never proofread your own material. It pays to hire a professional when proofing business material. If you don’t, you could be confronted with an embarrassing situation, a waste of money, and a loss of business.
Business image is easily ruined. Why take that risk? Solve the problem and hire a virtual assistant to proofread.
